A shipping container tumbled off a truck after slamming into a New Jersey overpass on Monday, landing atop a car and killing the driver.

The container detached from the tractor trailer along Route 3 in Rutherford around 2 p.m., after its driver struck the Orient Way overpass, knocking it loose. Photos show a navy blue sedan crushed below the container.

According to ABC7, one occupant of the car was killed and one was injured. It's unclear how many others were in the car at the time.
“It was so scary, it was unbelievable and especially the driver of the truck running down the highway, like an empty highway with his hands on his head, screaming and crying,” a witness told CBS New York. “I just saw the car underneath, the trailer crushed and the horn just honking constantly.”
