Seven people were seriously injured following a three-vehicle crash on the New England Thruway in the Bronx.
The crash happened in Eastchester on the southbound side of the thruway near Conner Street around 1 a.m. Sunday when the driver of a van with five people inside was trying to get off at Exit 14 and hit a box truck, which hit another truck, according to the NYPD.
Four occupants were thrown from the van, and the fifth was also injured, as were two in a box truck. Emergency medical responders took the injured to Jacobi and St. Barnabas Hospitals in stable condition.
The crash prompted the closure of the southbound lanes of I-95 for several hours. The cause is still being investigated.
