Tires of dozens of cars were slashed in Bay Ridge last weekend according to police, who have released an image of a suspect.

The slashings occurred on Saturday, November 16th, starting at 9:30 p.m. and ended on Sunday around 7:30 a.m. on Shore Road, between Bay Ridge Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway. The NYPD says "an unidentified individual intentionally caused damage to at least 50 parked vehicles."

City Council Member Justin Brannan wrote on Facebook, "I am putting up $5,000 of my own personal money towards any information that leads to an arrest."

But the problems have apparently been going on for a while. News 12 reported that resident Gale Young found her car was vandalized—both passenger tires were slashed, and the "car was scratched from front to back"—a few weeks ago. Further, "Young says she later learned through the Facebook group 'Bay Ridge Talk' that she was not alone. Dozens of others who parked their cars nearby on Shore Road also say they have found their cars in a similar condition in the past several weeks."

Another resident whose car was slashed, Suzy Falzarano, told PIX 11, "Why would somebody go around slashing tires like this? It just doesn't make any sense. What person in their right mind is going to do this?" Though police have recommended people park their cars in more brightly lit areas, Falzarano said, "There's no other parking, so yea, [I'm] going to park on Shore Road."

Back in 2011, when there was a rash of tire slashings in Bay Ridge, residents noted it was awfully coincidental that the damage came after business cards for a Park Slope tire shop "plastered the area."

Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this individual is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
