ne_vis_1201.jpgEven though tropical storm Otto has appeared on the scene, yesterday marked the official end of the hurricane season. What better way to usher it out than heavy rain and high winds? Isn't it ironic, don't you think? It will come as no surprise that the hurricane season was unusually active this year. While the hurricane season may have ended, today marks the beginning of winter! No, not astronomical winter which begins on the solstice, but climatological winter, or the three coldest months of the year. Yippee!

The cold front has passed, the rain has ended, and Gothamist sees the skies rapidly clearing. It'll stay windy for the rest of the day. Expect gusts over 50mph. The next couple of days should be chilly but pleasant.

The Sunday forecast is getting better. AccuWeather is now saying sunny to partly cloudy, high of 50. The Weather Service is sticking with partly cloudy and a high of 48, and weather.com believes it will be mostly sunny with a high of 52.
