A 35-year-old woman is still missing after taking a swim in Jamaica Bay on Sunday, swept away by rising tides in the waters off Far Rockaway. She disappeared as her husband swam nearby, and although authorities arrived in Bayswater around 5 p.m. and searched for hours, they found no body. Police said Monday morning that the rescue teams were heading back out at 9:45 a.m. today.

According to the Daily News, the NYPD sent divers and helicopters to investigate the area near Dunbar Street and Mott Avenue. The divers retired around 9 p.m., but helicopters continued their sweep. Aracelis Severino, a 40-year-old neighborhood resident who watched the search, told the paper that the scene was pure "chaos."

"The family was running and crying. It was so sad. This is crazy, it was scary," he said. "There were a lot of police and ambulances. There were people moving everywhere and trying to see what happened."

We will update as new information becomes available.
