A sanitation worker was seriously injured on the job yesterday morning, and officials say he's in danger of losing his leg. The unidentified worker was loading the back of a sanitation truck in Brooklyn when he was rear-ended by a rental truck; the accident left his left leg crushed above the knee.

The incident happened at 8:45 a.m. yesterday, on East Fourth Street and Cortelyou Road in Kensington. Other injuries the worker sustained included a broken right leg and arm; he was reportedly pinned between the sanitation truck and the rental. "The guy who was hanging on the back got squeezed," a witness told the Post. "His leg was all gone." The 26-year-old driver of the rental truck has not yet been charged with a crime, and authorities say he told them he fell asleep at the wheel.
