A husband and wife from Queens were charged with possession of child pornography yesterday, with prosecutors alleging the couple would "get off on" watching girls as young as 3 perform sexual acts.

According to a release [pdf] from the Queens D.A.'s office, George Slavescu, 49, and wife Ioana Pricope-Slavescu, 35, used a peer-to-peer network to download files with images and photos of young children performing sexual acts. The couple allegedly confessed to watching the videos together in their Ridgewood home, and cops say Pricope-Slavescu told them that the duo "both get off on it." Cops say they would hook their computers up to their home television to view them.

"Perhaps what is most shocking, as alleged in this case, is that the husband and wife defendants could consider viewing such disturbing imagery as family entertainment," Queens D.A. Richard Brown said in a statement.

Slavescu, who allegedly told officials he "masturbated to videos but never molested a child," was charged with 19 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 19 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. Pricope-Slavescu was charged with 15 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Slavescu's attorney told the Daily News that his client, who allegedly admitted to downloading 1,000 videos featuring child pornography, needed counseling, not imprisonment.
