According to

reports, New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley has been accused of rape and assault by a woman he met through Instagram. The 23-year-old Bromley allegedly picked up a 26-year-old woman in Brooklyn Friday night, eventually taking her to the Hyatt Herald Square in Midtown and forcing her to have sex.

“She said she willfully performed oral sex on him,” a source told the New York Post, who went on to allege that “something took place where she didn’t want it to take place.” Although the woman reportedly moved to stop things from going further, she alleged that Bromley forcibly grabbed her and raped her. “The victim told Mr. Bromley to stop, but he kept going,” the same source told the Post.

Bromley then allegedly attempted to flee the hotel, refusing to drive the woman home. According to the Daily News, the woman clung to the hood of his car, later skidding off and sustaining injuries. She called police at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday, and a rape kit was performed at Bellevue Hospital.

The Post reports that both Bromley and his alleged victim have been in contact with police investigators, and that detectives from the NYPD Special Victims Unit have interviewed the Giants starter. An NYPD spokesperson could not confirm that charges against Bromley have been filed at press time.

"We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it," the Giants said in a statement regarding Bromley. "We have notified the league office, per the league's protocol. We will have no further comment, as we understand this is an ongoing investigation."
