Last month, the body of a Nicaraguan diplomat was found dead in his Bronx apartment. Cesar Mercado, 34, but police started to suspect suicide when they found "hesitation wounds" and couldn't find signs of forced entry to his home. The medical examiner also found Mercado, who was allegedly depressed because he learned he was HIV positive, with drain fluid in his system. Now the Post reports that sources say he "inflicted the heinous wounds himself -- attempting to sever his own head after drinking drain cleaner and ripping out tufts of his hair... A Nicaraguan pathologist concurred with those conclusions, sources said."
