A man found dead in Forest Park in Queens yesterday may have been beaten in the head with a tree branch, according to a report by the blog A Walk In The Park. Officers found 23-year-old Queens resident Diego Pedrahita unconscious in the park along the Brooklyn border at 3:26 pm and responding paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the NYPD.

Two people walking in the park found Pedrahita's corpse after spotting blood and following its trail, according to the blog. The body was laying near the intersection of Park Lane South and Woodhaven Boulevard. Police Department spokesman Det. Michael DeBonis said the autopsy is ongoing and would not confirm that the death is being investigated as a murder, or that a tree limb was used.

Back in 2007, a former butcher named Edwin Fuentes murdered his wife in their Woodhaven apartment, dismembered her body, and buried the pieces in Forest Park. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime.
