Brooklyn developer Bruce Ratner won a ruling from a judge to demolish six buildings where he hopes to some day build his Nets-megacomplex. However, one of the lawyers for the Empire State Development Corporation was removed because he consulted for Ratner about the very same Atlantic Yards project earlier, calling it a conflict of interest. Community groups had argued that David Paget may have "rubber-stamped" approval from the state for the demolition, and even the judge implied that Ratner's company and the state's ESDC's relationship was "collaborative." But demolition can proceed (Ratner had been saying the buildings were dangerous). Round 1: Split decision.
