A 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with suffocating her 11-month-old son to death, according to authorities.

Nicole Kelly, 22, allegedly told cops she killed son Kiam Felix Jr. in their Elmhurst home on Sunday, reportedly covering the infant's entire body with a sheet and tucking it around him. Cops say Kelly told them she took a shower and returned to find that he was no longer breathing. Sometime around 4 p.m., she contacted the baby's father, who took the infant to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kelly was arrested yesterday and charged with second degree murder. "She made incriminating statements during questioning,” a police source told the Post. “She basically admitted to intentionally suffocating the child." According to authorities, Kelly, who is her son's primary caregiver, told cops she was too overwhelmed to care for him.

Earlier today, another young mother was arrested for allegedly leaving her child at the Columbus Circle subway station, having "apparently decided suddenly that she could no longer take care of the 10-month-old girl," according to WABC 7.
