Earlier this week, a 16-year-old girl was robbed and brutally beaten with a brick in Queens, and cops say they have arrested the teenager accused of attacking her.

Officers say Omer Khogali, 17, attacked the teen girl with a brick in an East Elmhurst alley just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, then allegedly took her purse. The girl, who sources have identified as Astoria resident Michelle Rodriguez, is currently in critical, but stable condition with head injuries in Elmhurst Hospital.

A public surveillance video of the alleged attacker tossing the brick led several people to identify Khogali, who lives in the neighborhood, though they don't know what might have prompted such vicious action on his part. The two teenagers were reportedly walking together just before the alleged beating, and investigators believe they knew each other. "[The attacker] hurt her real bad ... She's a nice, lovely and beautiful girl," Rodriguez's landlord, Gus Cortez, told the Daily News. "No one knows why they would hurt her like this. She's pretty, like an angel." Khogali has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
