A Queens man was injured after the driver of an SUV crashed into his bedroom on Friday evening.

ABC7 reports that the driver swerved past another vehicle that had slowed to make a left turn and slammed into the Howard Beach home. Both drivers had been heading westbound along 161st Avenue near 85th Street. The driver allegedly hit the gas instead of the brakes in order to avoid hitting the car in front of her.

The driver sent the SUV careening into 34-year-old Andrew Terrana's bedroom, where he was in bed watching television. His father, Giacomo Terrana, told NBC4 that the crash sent furniture flying against the wall and crashing down on top of his son.

Outside the house, bricks and parts of the foundation were scattered throughout the driveway.

"He was shaking, he was scared. He wasn't expecting something like this," Terrana said about his son. Andrew was taken to Jamaica Hospital with head and shoulder injuries.

The driver of the vehicle is not facing charges since the crash was an accident, an NYPD spokesperson told Gothamist. ABC reports that the driver and a child passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated and released on the scene.

Representatives from the Department of Buildings reportedly stayed on the scene for hours while the house and portions of the basement were boarded up.
