A 22-year-old after school dance teacher was arrested yesterday after investigators found that she had allegedly maintained a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old female student.
Tyshaunna Roberts, who taught dance class at Pathways College Preparatory School in Queens, was arrested after the mother of another one of her female students reported inappropriate Facebook exchanges between Roberts and her daughter. Roberts was then fired by her employer, Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation, which had assigned her to the school.
According to the Daily News, the encounters occurred between July and August and involved Roberts placing her hands "inside the vagina of the victim," as well as "plac[ing] her mouth on the girl's private parts."
Roberts faces charges of criminal sexual act in the second degree, sexual abuse in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.
