A 20-year-old man was killed and three other people were wounded in a shooting in a Brooklyn apartment building on Wednesday night. The shots were reportedly fired in a third floor hallway following an argument at a family gathering in one of the apartments.
Police say officers responded to 1778 Fulton Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant just before 8:30 p.m. and found four victims. An unnamed 20-year-old man who was shot in the head and chest was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 20-year-old man who was shot in the torso and a 55-year-old woman shot in the torso were taken to Brookdale Hospital, where the man is in critical condition and the woman is in stable condition. A 22-year-old woman was grazed in the buttocks, and taken to Kings County Hospital; she is in stable condition.
The Daily News reports that the 55-year-old woman was identified by her boyfriend as Pam Jordan, who "was part of a group leaving a family gathering on the third floor of the apartment building, according to one relative, who said he left ahead of the others but turned back after hearing the gunshots. The relative said Jordan and another man 'were coming down from the apartment. They were getting ready to leave and somebody shot them,' hitting the man in the torso and Jordan in the leg."
The relative added, "We didn’t do anything to cause this."
A neighbor lamented to WABC 7, "A lot of people coming from work, going home, this senseless violence is just straight nonsense and we don't need that in our neighborhood."
No arrests have been made and the police investigation is continuing.
