A man attempted to rape a woman who was jogging in Prospect Park early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened around 5:15 a.m. today when the suspect approached the 23-year-old woman as she was jogging inside the park. Cops say the suspect came up to her from behind near Prospect Park West and Garfield Place, and threw her to the ground. He then took out a knife and said he was going to sexually assault her.
The woman was able to fight him off, and he fled the scene. She suffered a laceration to her finger, and was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police describe the suspect as six foot tall with light facial hair, and add he was wearing a black sweatsuit. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
