The driver who killed 9-year-old Lucian Merryweather in Fort Greene two years ago has been officially sentenced to 20 hours of community service and five years probation, after taking a no-jail deal in March.

The Post reports that 61-year-old Anthony Byrd was handed the aforementioned sentence today, two months after pleading guilty to criminally negligent homicide, and 18 months after fatally striking Lucian while he crossed a Fort Greene street with his brother on November 2nd, 2013.

Byrd, who is reportedly a registered sex offender, drove his car against traffic on DeKalb Avenue; he also hit three vehicles before jumping a curb and crushing the young boy with his car. He has already completed his community service, but will lose his license for the duration of his probation.
