The man arrested for fleeing the scene after he allegedly hit and killed an 88-year-old woman with his BMW on Sunday night claims he may have been distracted while eating ice cream. According to the Post's police sources, pastor Wayne Stokeling admitted that he was eating an ice cream cone when he struck 88-year-old Isabel Rodriguez in Brownsville. Stokeling was caught several blocks away after police saw that Rodriguez's cane had dented Stokeling's car.

Stokeling, who preaches at St. John's Baptist Church in Bed-Stuy, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. His bail was set at $200,000 and he remains in jail.
