A driver has be charged with criminally negligent homicide after killing a pedestrian in Lefferts Garden. According to police, 53-year-old Jean Bigord was driving his 2006 Crown Vic south on Bedford Avenue around 3:06 a.m. "at a high rate of speed" when he crossed the double yellow line to pass a vehicle, lost control of his car, and struck a parked car. Bigord then allegedly turned west onto Sterling, where he jumped the sidewalk and killed a man before plowing into a building.
Bigord is also charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment. The identity of the killed pedestrian has been withheld pending family notification.
