Police shot a man who allegedly brandished a machete and a knife in Brooklyn last night. According to a department release, two officers responded to a 911 call of a dispute involving a man armed with two knives at 159 East 46th Street in East Flatbush on the border of Prospect Lefferts Gardens. When the officers arrived at the home, the man exited with one machete in each hand, and confronted the officers, one of whom shot the man twice in the right forearm and in the left hip.

The suspect was taken to Kings County Hospital and is currently in stable condition. The officers were treated at Methodist Hospital for tinnitus. Per department policy, the officer who discharged his weapon will be removed from active duty until the department concludes its investigation. An NYPD spokeswoman declined to provide the name of the suspect, noting that he has not yet been charged with any crime.
