Last night, while apparently pursuing a stolen vehicle, police officers shot and wounded an armed suspect in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The NYPD says that suspect, at this point, remains in critical condition while no police officers were seriously injured (they had tinnitus).

According to WABC 7, "Suspects allegedly ditched the stolen Saturn around midnight in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. A large number of officers chased the suspects near the Williams Plaza Houses. A detective confronted the suspect and opened fire after spotting a weapon." The Post reports, "The suspect and a cohort ditched their ride at Kent Avenue and Broadway in Williamsburg at about 11:50 p.m. and one hood fled toward the Williams Plaza Houses, sources added."

The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m., by 255 Havemeyer Street. A witness told WABC 7, "It sounded back to back and it didn't stop and everybody started running. It was quicker than quick."

A .380-caliber gun was reportedly found at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
