Police are looking for two men who were caught on camera punching and kicking a prone man on the ground on the Lower East Side on Friday morning, and have released video of the incident in the hopes of finding the suspects.
According to the NYPD, two men chased another man north on Orchard Street just before 3 a.m. on Friday morning this week. After they caught him in front of 156 Orchard Street, the two suspects punched and kicked the man on the ground over and over, leaving injuries to the man's face, head and body. The men fled in a livery cab and the victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses to the assault can be seen walking by in the video, but according to a CBS2 report, the attack was so violent and the assailants to big that they were afraid to intervene. "I mean they were big guys, I myself couldn’t stop them. I don’t think there was any stopping them," a witness who was too traumatized to be identified told the station.
Another witness, who works at a hotel across the street from where the beating happened, told the News "Nobody could help this person. It was over that quickly."
