Police have arrested the man accused of raping a woman in a Coney Island apartment building stairwell, then robbing another woman an hour later on Sunday night. Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, cops from the Brooklyn Warrant Squad caught up to Raji Wilson, 31, on Wednesday at 8 a.m. a block and a half from his apartment in the neighborhood, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

Officers say Wilson followed a 20-year-old woman into an elevator at 9 p.m. Sunday, grabbed her as she got off, flashed a gun, then pulled her into a stairwell and raped her. He allegedly stole her money and keys as he left the scene. Less than an hour later, police say Wilson robbed a woman of $30 as she got off an elevator on the 16th floor of a Luna Park Co-Op tower building.

Wilson is being charged with rape, robbery, gun possession, assault, and violating his parole. State prison records show Wilson has spent 11 1/2 of the last 13 years in prison for robbery. He was released most recently in June after serving the maximum of a 6-year sentence, Corrections Department records show.
