William Franco, the victim seen on video getting beaten by two men early Friday morning likely didn't know his attackers, according to police sources and his mother.
Franco's mother spoke to CBS2, and told the station that she was worried "like any mom would be" and that "he probably didn't know" the men who were caught on tape kicking him on the ground. Police sources told CBS that Franco and the two men got into an argument at a nearby bar before the attack, but that that Franco told them he hadn't met the men before that.
Franco's mother told the News that his face was cut during the attack, but that he came away without any permanent injuries. However, she also told the paper "He’s in pain. He hasn’t been talking very much." A police source told the News that the attack on Franco appeared to be random, and a police spokesman told Gothamist that investigators are currently looking for more surveillance video of the attack.
