Police arrested a man in lower Manhattan last night after he allegedly menaced people on the street with a samurai sword. Orlando Lassiter, 51, was spotted by cops outside of a subway station near Watts Street at around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Port Authority officer James Dunphy followed him to Barclay and Church Streets, where he disarmed and arrested Lassiter.

Lassiter, who is believed to be homeless, has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct. Lassiter also reportedly took the sword onto the subway with him, though the 27-inch blade was was reportedly inside its sheath at the time.
