Police have arrested a man who they say tried to rape an 8-year-old girl in the Bronx on October 24th. A police spokeswoman said Justin Ramirez, 21, turned himself in to an NYPD station house in the Woodstock neighborhood on Monday at 5:05 p.m.

Cops allege Ramirez approached the girl from behind as she was going into her building somewhere within the 46th Precinct, grabbed her around her mouth, and put his hand down her pants. The victim screamed, and Ramirez ran away on foot, according to a police account.

Police say Ramirez is homeless. He is now facing three felony sex abuse charges, and two misdemeanor charges of child endangerment and groping. He could be sentenced to as many as 23 years in prison if convicted.
