Two men are still missing in the aftermath of the East Village explosion that took down three buildings on Thursday. Firefighters are still sifting through the rubble, 2nd Avenue is lined with emergency vehicles, local businesses are demolished, and area residents have been displaced. So, though the East Village is still a super hawt place to hang out or something, it seems in poor taste to take a selfie so close to the scene of such a terrible and tragic incident. Right?

Right.

Selfies are fun, but perhaps best saved for, say, epic subway station adventures or celebrity sightings. There are bad places to take selfies, including sites of mass death or other turmoil.

Press conferences covering these kinds of events are also not great places for selfies.
