An alleged pickpocket stole a cell phone from a woman who fell asleep at a Times Square subway station early Tuesday morning. But police caught him in the act via a surveillance camera and arrested him before he managed to make off with the phone.
NBC News reports that the unidentified woman was napping on a bench on a platform at around 12:30 a.m. yesterday when the suspect sat behind her. Surveillance video shows him stick his hand into the woman's pocket, pull out a phone and stow it away.
Police apprehended the suspect before he could escape. Investigators have identified him as Juvian Rodriguez, 38; he reportedly has a lengthy arrest record, with 38 priors for crimes like grand larceny, assault and drugs charges.
