Plumes of dark black smoke are floating over the U.S. Open in Flushing this afternoon, leaving many tennis fans wondering if Samuel Groth is practicing his serve nearby. The FDNY tells us multiple cars were on fire at a junk yard on Willets Point Boulevard. The fire is now under control, but one person was transported to New York Hospital with burn injuries.
The extent of the victim's injuries is currently unclear, but we'll update as more information becomes available. And the fire did not disrupt any of the matches at the U.S. Open.
