Yesterday, while you were debating the merits of cheap beer and marveling at Joey Chestnut's hot dog achievements, hundreds of people took to Union Square for the "Restore The Fourth" rally, a nationwide protest of NSA spying and government intrusion.

According to photographer Ellen Moynihan, there were frequent chants against the NSA and in support of Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden as people marched to Federal Hall in the afternoon. Once there, Reverend Billy Talen orated on the widespread surveillance of citizens by its government, and the Fourth Amendment was read aloud.
