A large cache of ATVs, guns, and drugs were seized from a storage unit in Brooklyn earlier this week.
Police say they obtained a warrant to search Lockaway Self Storage on Flushing Avenue across from the Navy Yard after they saw a man recklessly driving his ATV on the sidewalk then enter the storage unit. A manager there told the NYPD the man wasn't authorized to use the facility, so police obtained a warrant, and found 14 ATVs and dirt bikes and four loaded handguns. A subsequent search of a 2007 Nissan Altima with a hidden storage compartment yielded 500 bags of heroin, and $8,000 in cash.
ATVs and dirt bikes are illegal to ride on city streets. Edwin Rodriguez, 22, Noel Tavarez, 26, and Pablo Soto, 21, were all arrested and charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
