The NYPD seized around $750,000 worth of heroin from the trunk of a car in Inwood yesterday.

According to a release, two plainclothes members of the 34th Precinct saw a man toss a duffel bag into the trunk of a Nissan Altima around West 207th Street and Sherman Avenue. This alone is not suspicious, but as the release notes, "The officers were aware that this particular block is a known drug prone location," and a law was already being broken: the Nissan was double-parked.

When the officers pulled in front of the car, the man who threw the bag into the trunk fled. A man sitting in the driver's seat remained and consented to a search of his trunk which revealed 25,000 glassines of heroin—close to 20 pounds. Police arrested 26-year-old Joancis Delacruz-Arias and charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance. The second suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
