The triumphant return of the fireworks to the East River meant many people were able to see the dazzling show from Brooklyn. However, in the five years since the last East River display, Brooklyn has become the "hip" borough—which means the wait for the F train at the York Street station was insane. The perfect antidote to your pyrotechnic, patriotic buzz!
If you're thinking of taking the F train anytime in the next hour, and it has to pass York, DON'T. Just wait.

Reader John Bedard sent us some photographs of poor souls lining up OUTSIDE the DUMBO subway station (click on the third one). Although it looked relatively orderly... except when you looked at the aerial:
The station only has one entrance/exit, so it's unclear if the logjam was just trying to get through the turnstiles or if it was backed up all the way to the platform. If you were there, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org!
