A mobile crane tipped over in a vacant lot at 438 West 38th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues at 8:45 a.m this morning. Fortunately there were no injuries, but the crane did appear to do some damage to materials at the site. Inspectors with the Buildings Department are currently on the scene trying to figure out what happened, and we'll update when more information becomes available. In the meantime, please enjoy They Might Be Giants' performance of "They'll Need A Crane" on the David Letterman show:

And speaking of cranes, remember that one that collapsed during the hurricane and was left dangling precariously over 57th Street? It's still there! But Curbed reports that workers will begin dismantling it next week. A tipster says, "A new crane needed to be built to get the broken one down, and so far things are happening according to the anticipated timeline." Fingers crossed this new crane doesn't break!
