A house in western New Jersey was obliterated by a massive fire and explosion shortly before 7 a.m. today. Firefighters are still extinguishing the remains of the blaze in Hampton Borough. Lt. Stephen Jones tells NJ.com that one person was able to make it out of the house safely, but a woman who lives at the residence is unaccounted for.

It's thus far unclear what caused the fire and explosion. Fire officials told NBC New York there was no natural gas line to the house. Lt. Jones says there was a big propane tank at the rear of the structure. The adjacent houses were undamaged, but evacuated as a precaution. We'll update as more information becomes available.
