Early this morning, a woman was fatally struck by a city bus in Brooklyn.

According to the NYPD, at 1:27 a.m. police responded a 911 call about a pedestrian struck at Meeker Avenue and Union Avenue. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Marisol Martinez, had severe body trauma and was taken to Woodhull Hospital, she were was pronounced DOA.

Police say that a Q59 bus heading north on Union had been making a left onto Meeker Avenue when it struck Martinez, who had been walking south on Union Avenue.

The MTA's 50-year-old female bus driver stayed on the scene. WCBS 2 described the driver as being "shaken up." The incident is being investigated by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad.
