With Houston still recovering from the damage wrought by Hurricane Harvey, the country's celebrities are coming together for a star-studded telethon fundraiser this month. And a portion of the nationwide broadcast will come out of beautiful Times Square.
Hand In Hand: A Benefit For Hurricane Harvey will take place on Tuesday, September 12th, with a live broadcast starting at 8 p.m. on the East Coast and a West Coast broadcast starting at 8 p.m. PST. The telethon will be broadcast on all four major networks, CMT, Faceboook, YouTube and Twitter, and in addition to Times Square will also air live from Nashville and Los Angeles.
Among the many, many musicians who've signed up to be part of the benefit (which will raise money for United Way Houston, Habitat For Humanity, Save The Children, Feeding Texas and Direct Relief), Bun B, Beyonce, Drake, Blake Shelton and Kelly Rowland have agreed to perform, and the grand finale will be a broadcast of George Strait and His Friends from Strait's own benefit concert in San Antonio. In addition, stars like George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Oprah and Julia Roberts will appear live or in taped messages encouraging people to give.
There's no word yet on whether Kanye West will be invited, but one can only hope against hope that he somehow makes it onto the broadcast.
And don't forget, if you want to donate some money to help out before the telethon next week, you've got plenty of worthy causes to choose from.
