A manhole that exploded on Prospect Park West sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to FDNY, the manhole at PPW near 5th Street erupted around 11:20 a.m., injuring an unfortunate passerby who was taken to Lutheran Hospital.

Residents of the area report hearing a loud "boom" at the time of the explosion, and one Vine user says that all the windows along the street have broken.
Lest you forget, winter is Manhole Fire Season, since salt laid on the streets to melt the pernicious snow tends to corrode cables, which can either catch fire or release gas that builds up and sends manhole covers flying. WHY DO WE LIVE HERE.
