Rainfall was pretty scattered yesterday. Flooding in Westchester, nearly two inches of rain at JFK, barely any between the two in Central Park. The tropical moisture isn't going anywhere until Sunday at the earliest, so hit-or-miss showers, some possibly intense, will be the order of the day until then. At least it will remain warm, with highs in the lower 80s.
Tropical Storm Ophelia has finally started getting caught up in the westerlies, meaning she will start to move rapidly to the north and east. The Weather Service has issued a tropical storm warning for the waters off far eastern Long Island for Saturday. Ophelia is also keeping the Weather Service busy with a high surf advisory through Saturday evening. Watch out for the rip tide! According to Surfline, the waves at Rockaway were good for surfing this morning but have become choppy this afternoon.
