Police are investigating the death of a baby whose body was found outside a Richmond Hill apartment building earlier this morning.

According to the NYPD, police officers responded to a 911 around 4 a.m. about an "unconscious infant found in the courtyard area of 85-55 115 Street." The baby, one-month-old Rizwan Ahmad who was wearing a onesie, was unconscious and unresponsive, and EMS pronounced him dead.

WABC 7 reports, "The infant's mother, 21, was being questioned by police and taken to Jamaica Medical Center for observation. The preliminary investigation indicates he was possibly thrown from a fourth-floor window. The infant's father is 40, and he and four other family members were in the apartment at the time. They also were interviewed."

The medical examiner will determine cause of death.
