A drunk driver allegedly slammed his BMW into a garbage truck in East Flatbush early this morning, killing one of the car's passengers and critically injuring another.
According to police, the 26-year-old operator of the 2010 black BMW was driving south on Utica Avenue at around 1:35 a.m. when he collided with the back end of a private sanitation truck making a left turn from Utica onto Avenue D. One of the BMW's passengers, 22-year-old Marquis Willis, was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital; another male passenger was transported there in critical condition.
The driver was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is in stable condition. An NYPD spokesman said he is in police custody, and that drunk driving charges are pending.
Two men who were in the garbage truck at the time of the crash were uninjured.
