Two off-duty NYPD police officers were killed in a crash late Sunday night in upstate New York. One of the police officers was driving, while the other officer was a groom who had just been married that day.

Michael Colangelo, 31, an officer in the K9 division, was married at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY, on Sunday. According to NY State Police, John Martinez, an officer in the 84th Precinct, was driving a 2018 Maserati which "struck a large tree before overturning and coming to rest on its roof" on Oliveria Road in Shandaken, Ulster County. State police responded to the scene at 11:23 p.m., and Colangelo and Martinez were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger was taken to Albany Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. This unnamed victim was apparently not the bride.

An investigator told the Post that the "victims were coming from the reception at the time of the fatal crash," while NBC New York reports that the Maserati had been rented.
