An off-duty police officer was held up and robbed in Bushwick early Saturday morning.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., the 10-year veteran NYPD cop, whose name hasn't been released, was in his car near the corner of Grove Street and Wyckoff Avenue when a group of men approached him. One assailant brandished a gun and demanded the officer's jewelry, according to a police spokesperson.

A ring, Rolex watch, and other jewelry belonging to the officer was taken during the robbery. Shortly after the items were taken, shots rang out. A police source confirmed that the NYPD cop fired once, while his assailants fired two shots. No one was injured in the fray. The Daily News reports that the thieves fired first, and that the officer returned fire, but an NYPD spokesperson could not confirm details.

The officer was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was treated for tinnitus.
