A group of men allegedly stabbed an off-duty FDNY EMT in the Bronx and stole his Christmas presents early Sunday morning.
Steven Sampson, 41, told CBS 2 he was arranging gifts in the back of his car at Bolton and Randall Avenues just after midnight on Sunday when four men wearing ski masks attacked him.
Sampson, a black belt in Judo and Akido, fought back. "I caught him in an arm bar and he was like, ‘Please, sir, please, sir, let me go!’ but I knew I had him,” Sampson told the NY Post. "I smashed him in the elbow and felt his humerus crack." Sampson also tells the tabloid the assailants called him "cracker."
Samson claims he punched another robber in the jaw, but sustained a stab wound during the fight. The robbers allegedly made off with about $2,600 in gifts, including a parrot drone for his 6-year-old daughter. Sampson says he drove himself to Jacobi Medical Center—he told CBS 2 he was stabbed “very deep to the bone" and received nine stitches.
"You have to be real low to try to rob somebody on Christmas," Sampson told the Post, adding a message for his alleged attackers: "Get a f—king job! They’re going to find you. Karma’s a bitch."
An NYPD spokesperson confirmed Tuesday morning that no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
