An off-duty New York State Corrections Officer fatally shot a man who was allegedly attempting to steal his motorcycle during a confrontation in Queens last night.
Police say that the officer, whose name hasn't been released yet, was with four other men on Rockaway Boulevard near 95th Avenue around 10:30 p.m. last night when the armed suspect approached them. The suspect, whose name also hasn't been released, allegedly demanded the keys to their motorcycles while brandishing the gun.
The News writes, "During an ensuing scuffle, the officer shot the 35-year-old man in the head, said police sources." The man was transported to Jamaica Hospital, where he was declared dead.
No arrests have been made, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
