An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested after a drunken row with his wife turned violent inside their Coney Island apartment. According to the NYPD, Aleksandr Galper, 32, allegedly attacked his wife on Monday night, and sources say he threw a wide variety of household objects at her. Police were called to the scene at approximately 8 p.m., and Galper was arrested on charges of Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, Menacing, and Harassment.
The Post reports that the fight was sparked by a broken remote control. A police source tells the tabloid that Galper allegedly "snarled" at his wife: "You b-tch, you broke the remote control! You owe me money, so get me a new one!" He then allegedly spat in her face, threw bottles of perfume and vases at her (but missed), and knocked over a bookshelf.
Sources tell the Daily News the bookshelf was glass, and Galper's wife sustained a small cut from the shattered glass. She locked herself in the bedroom until cops arrived to arrest the cop. (The Post says he's a transit cop, but neither the NYPD press office nor the Daily News identify him as such.)
