Police say a teen girl was kidnapped off a Bronx street while walking with her mother on Monday night. Investigators are now searching for 16-year-old Karol Sanchez, and have released video showing the shocking abduction. Update: Police say that Karol was found Tuesday afternoon. More below.
The incident took place at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, December 16th. According to the NYPD, Karol was walking along Eagle Avenue near East 156 Street, in the company with her mother "when they were approached by a beige-colored four-door sedan which stopped in front of 745 Eagle Avenue."
Two males got out of the car and, police say, "grabbed" Karol and "dragged her inside the vehicle while pushing the victim's mother to the ground." The vehicle, which had two other males inside, then fled east on East 156 Street from southbound Eagle Avenue. The NYPD has released this footage from nearby security cameras:
Karol's mother refused medical attention at the scene.
Police describe Karol as being about 5'5" and 150 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark blue short jacket, white sweater, blue jeans and black sneaker.
The suspects are described as being adult males in their 20s who were wearing dark clothing.
Update: Police Tweeted that Karol was found:
According to WABC 7, at some point, she apparently “walked up to her relative's Bronx apartment building. She met with police and is now on the way to the local precinct.”
Karol and her mother reportedly live in Dutchess County and were in the city for an appointment.
