Yesterday, a woman apparently tried to kidnap an eight-month-old baby from the care of his nanny while he was being strolled in Chelsea.

Police have distributed a sketch of the woman accused of trying to kidnap the baby. According to the NYPD, around 3:45 p.m., the 43-year-old nanny was pushing the baby in his stroller outside of 140 8th Avenue, near 17th Street, when they were approached by a woman who came up to talk to them.

The woman was apparently mumbling or saying "something to the nanny in a threatening manner" before she tried to walk away with the stroller. The nanny struggled with the woman and eventually got the stroller back with help from a UPS worker.

The suspect, who fled southbound on 8th Avenue, is described as a female in her 50's and wearing a beige hat and beige overcoat.
