A man was shot by a gunman riding a dirt bike in East Harlem yesterday afternoon.
According to the NYPD, it happened at 3:58 p.m., when the 19-year-old victim was walking north on Second Avenue between 112 Street and 113 Street: He "heard gunshots and began to run. The male felt blood on his left leg and realized that he was shot. When the male victim turned around he observed an unknown male suspect riding a white dirt bike who was facing him. The suspect was wearing a black ski mask and wearing all black clothing."
The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.
One resident told NBC New York, "All I heard was the motorcycles and three shots." The station, which noted that other residents saw dirt bikers and ATVs in the neighborhood at the time, reports the victim's aunt said he had been "visiting his grandmother, who lives nearby... He was simply standing on the corner enjoying the warm weather when he was hit by the gunfire."
Police released a photograph of the suspect, which was taken from the surveillance video at a bodega on Second Avenue between 111th and 112th Streets.
